dMC dBpowerAMP:

I've occasionally used winamp's Nullsoft Disk Writer output plugin to create wav's but it's too slow. One advantage of the winamp approach is that I can feed the conversion through my DSP plugin DFX (fxsound.com) to enhance the outputted file's sound even more.

It's not something I do very often and I have no idea what program is "best", but CDex can convert MP3s to WAVs.

I also use CDex, it is a very polished program. I would recommend using this as well.

Slow? It takes like 4 seconds to do a typical song.

Humm.. if you're planning to make audio CDs most burning programs (Nero or Roxio Creator) will do it automatically on the fly.

If you need wav files for something else, Winamp's plugin works fine. Its not slow for me, takes about 5 seconds a song.
