Anyone try this yet? How's it compare to the previous version (6.0) of Ad-aware?

same. I haven't noticed a difference, but I have yet to try it on a "messed up" system yet.

The only difference I've noticed in terms of looks/function, not the behind the scenes stuff, is the way it displays the results. It lists things like most recently opened items in a seperate section and I don't recall it doing so before.

Does everyone let it delete that Alexa what's related registry key? I've never bothered with that before since I don't think it does anything unless one uses the IE search window.

it picked up 4 things after i scanned my system with adware 6 (the old version, and spybot 1.3), so its more then just a cosmetic upgrade.

Do you have to download it manually, or can you just use the "Update" button from within the old version of the program?

Not sure if you still need to know but you have to download it manually. Upon installation it asks if you want to uninstall 6.0 & has the recommended tab next to it.

After I scanned it picked up 215 problems 6.0 didn't catch. A lot of VX2 crap was found in my Documents & Settings folder.

I'm scanning my profiles share (~500 users) and it has found ~21000 objects and I'm only on m.

It's been awhile since I've scanned, but usually the number is quite a bit lower than that. I'm anxious to see what it finds.

They're harmless. Do you have a need to delete the names of the items recently opened in the programs listed? If not, then there isn't really a reason to do so.

I put those MRU things on the ignore list, just as a matter of convenience of accessing certain files quicker.

Use both in case one doesn't find something that the other might.

I use Spybot and Ad-Aware. I have been trying out Spy Sweeper too.

I'm a little confused now. I downloaded the new version six days ago and now it says that it needs to be upgraded to 1.03 (was 1.02) yet the site nor download.com make any mention of 1.02 now.

No idea but as of 8/11 around 2PM EST the 1.02 version was the only one released. They must have done something and released 1.03 since that time but not specified what nor notified anyone other than within the program telling you of the new version. There had to have been something in 1.02 that they needed to fix.

Anyway, downloaded 1.03 and I can't see any changes. If one looks at the properties of that file it still calls it 1.02.
