MS Excel Question

I'm trying to use the Find function to locate various dates populated within cells. When I do so, it is not able to locate a specific date (for example "03/05/04") that is definitely populated in a cell within the spreadsheet. What am I doing wrong? Also, can I locate dates using the Find function that are cell referenced from another tab within the same file? Thanks for any help.

I don't know exactly how to solve your problem, but dates like you entered are really a "format." Internally they are encoded as a single number, 0 is around the year 1900, with 365/366 days per year since then. You can see this if you copy date to another cell, and then force that cell to display ina "number" format.

Presumably, you'd have to know the numeric representation of the date, not the date itself. But I don't know how to do that.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, and hopefully someone else knows how to manipulate the data to solve my problem.

I figured it out. When you select the Find function, click on the Options button. Then in the "Look In" drop down menu, select "values". Bingo, it works!!!

Thanks for trying. I did give it quite a bit of effort though prior to posting this thread.
