No monitor?

Seems like too much. Probably getting ripped off on the RAM.

For $422 difference, I'll put it together for you! Seriously, building a computer is very easy. I'm sure the NewEgg purchase was unassembled.

Buy it at NewEgg for $588, have it all shipped to me and send me $100 and I'll assemble it and send it to you (postage due)

Alternatively, I added the same comps* to a system at Cyberpower PC (www.cyberpowerpc.com) and came up with a price of $830

*I spec'd it with a 256mb Geforce 5700 since it was only $26 more. For $26 you're getting a lot more video performance.

Note: I've never actually bought from Cyberpower before. Theirs just happens to be the site I use for comparing prices since they seem to be pretty reasonable, easy to use custom configuration setup etc.

Places like mwave.com (and I'm sure there are others) will sell assembled barebones systems -- case, power supply, fans, motherboard, hard drive, RAM.

Price-wise, you can probably do pretty well just to wait for a deal/coupon at Dell. Watch out for how much places like Dell charge for RAM and accessories -- seems to be where they make their profit margin.
