Norton AntiVirus and Creative SB Audigy2 ZS Platinum Compatibility Problems

I recently picked up a new sound card, the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel and remote) to replace the on-board AC 97 sound.

There seems to be a known conflict with Norton AntiVirus and the auto-protect function being disabled after installing Audigy2 sound cards. I tried messing with msconfig and controlling what loads at startup (suggested at either Symantec or Creative's website, I can't recall), which corrected the auto-protect problem, but now the remote doesn't work and I'm not sure if all of the drivers are fully loading at start. Can anyone offer assistance?

I am running Windows XP Pro.

Did you have the sound card installed before you installed Norton 2004? I think that may have something to do with it.

I suppose so. I have done a ton of reformats since I bought these two items, so I can't tell which came first. Also, I have the regular Audigy 2 not the ZS, that may have something to do with it.

I guess I will just have to reformat, although I was planning on it anyhow, I would still like to know what should remain in startup under msconfig. And I'm thinking the ZS has something to do with it too. All suggestions are welcome...don't be shy.

I finally reformatted but to no avail it happened again. But this time, I found a solution. In case anyone else is having the same problems, all you have to do is go to Creative's website (http://www.creative.com) and download updates (http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/) for the Creative software suite and voila problem solved. I recommend doing the autoupdate feature. Just thought I'd share...

Just kidding...it didn't work after all. The only thing that worked was removing all of the components of the Creative Labs SB sound card from the System Configuration Utility (run: msconfig). This is a pain, now I can't even use the remote control.
