Flat LCD Monitor

Hi,

I'm trying to buy a new LCD monitor. It's basically because the space in my home desk. Right now I have a 17'' CRT monitor and it's too bulky.

I want a 17'' or 19'' LCD.

I want it for browsing, watching DVDs, etc. NOT for games.

Do you have any recomendations?

If it's not for games 25 ms is a good response time?
Is DVI a must for what I intend to use the monitor?

TIA!

24 ms should be ok. It's not hard getting faster though.

I consider DVI a necessity at 17" and above.

The resolution for a 17" and 19" LCD are the same 1280 x 1024, you should get a 17" DVI LCD wel save you a few dollars.

A DVI, gives you better color and clarity from the video card to the monitor. I use it but if you don't have DVI on your video card an Analog will be cheaper.

You can get a 16 ms for about the same price as a 25 ms LCD, so I would shop around.

I use a Viewsonic VP171b, which is a 17", 1280 x 1024 and is very bright with DVI and analog connections.

Please note Samsung sells 17" widescreen which would be perfect for dvd movies, resolution is 1280 x 768 (I believe). Let me see if I can find some reviews...

Hope this helps.
