kinda odd, but it happened twice within the afternoon.

Have you installed any software?
Adware's default settings shouldn't cause any problems.
SpyBot-typically you only delete items in red

You can download HiJackThis
Run a scan, when the scan is finshed then button will change to "save Log". Save the log to the hard drive. Open the log with notepad or any editor(make sure always open with is unchecked), copy and paste the contents here and I will look for anything suspicious.

and download and runCWShredder
Select "Fix" and it will go thru its routine
You can also do a System Restore, but I would make that a last alternative

What were you doing when the computer froze? I had my computer freeze on me due to the video drivers and it would freeze when I scrolled down a bunch of text too fast.

I'd also check your hardware. Download Motherboard Monitor and keep track of your CPU temperature. Download and install any Windows updates. Also grab the latest drivers for you PC....basically try to eliminate any software issues.

Take a look at your Event Viewer to see if anything appeared there. Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Event Viewer
If you see something there marked either red or yellow take a look at it. http://www.eventid.net will help decipher what the error was.
