Worth upgrading my video card?

I figured before I drop about 200 for a new video card I should ask whether the upgrade would be significant, and ultimately, worth it.

I'm running on an AMD Athlon(tm) 2400+, which operates at 2.0 GHz. I have 1.5 GB of RAM, and my graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.

I'm interested in playing games like FarCry, Doom 3, and Half-Life 2----although not necessarily at the highest settings.

Is it worth spending $180 (pre-tax) on an ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB DDR AGP Graphics Card. Would my system be able to play the newer games reasonably well? Also, how difficult is it to install the new card? I've done simple things like putting in RAM and a new DVD-ROM, but haven't yet toyed with a video card. And, finally, would the new card require a better cooling system?

Thanks in advance for any help/recommendations.

Looking at your system i thnk the video card upgrade would be the best for upcoming games. The FX 5200 is on the slow side these days, and a 9800 Pro would be a nice boost, particularly for the games you mentioned. Personally, i think its worth the upgrade.

As for installing it, its pretty simple. Just remember to Remove/Uninstall the drivers for your current card first.

The 9800 runs hotter then the Geforce 5200, but i wouldn't worry about needing any new cooling.
