Changing HD, need to change drive letter

ok.. time to upgrade the HD.... I have a C and D drive and want to increase the D.. I also have progs that run off the D... my thought was buy a new drive, add it (call it E).. copy everything from D to E.. pull out D and rename E to D... Should be pretty easy...

1) am i missing anything?
2) what is the easiest way to relabel the HD drive letter

That sounds reasonable to me, just be sure that your copy includes all files from the original.

How you would change the drive lettering may depend on the OS and other factors. In some cases the fact that the old D was gone would cause the E drive to automatically be reassigned the drive letter D. In other cases you might have to manually change the drive letter. If you're using Win2k or XP, then doing this is fairly simple.

You might need to use Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management to change the drive letter. You'll have to move your current D to another letter first if it's installed while you do it.

Actually, you should be using Disk Management to install your new drive in the first place.
