Wireless router + fan = bad?

I have a wireless router sitting in the bottom of my nightstand, and a fan on the top. I've been having problems with the router signal disappearing intermittently for the last couple weeks, firmware update, hard and soft resets, etc. all tried. Tonight it went out for good and i couldn't get it back for like an hour. I realized while I was mucking about with it that the problems started when it started getting really warm around here and I started using my fan. I turned off my fan and boom, signal back. Could the fan be the culprit or is this just coincidence? I know they can give off electrical interference but not how much or in what range or anything - I was a social science major for god's sake.
