HDPC choice - Intel or AMD?

P4 3 Ghz Northwood on an Intel Board or AMD 64 3000+ on an Epox Nforce 3 board?
Box will be used as PVR (Sage +PVR250) and as HD tuner (HDTV Wonder). I also plan to use stuff like ffdshow ao I don't think this is overkill .... but feel free to tell me if you think it is. Cheaper is always better unless you find it won't do what you want...

Honestly I do everything you are wanting to do with a XP 2500+ 512mb ram. And this is using ffdshow at what many consider extreme levels. As long as all your components play nice, you should be good to go at 2500+ and above. If you are planning to do some video editing, the extra headroom will be nice though.
