avi player for macs?

being that DVDTalk is a fount of wisdom, i thought i should turn to you with this question:

i was wondering if there is a program for macs that plays avis? i have a powerbook.

VideoLAN VLC (www.videolan.org) plays pretty much every format there is and is also available for just about every major OS--Win, Mac (OS X only), Linux, etc. It is good and free.

MPlayer or VLC will play just about anything, even for something encoded with an obscure codec, what one won't play chances are the other will. Additionally, the Divx plugin will enable Quicktime to play most divx encoded avi's.
