How to erase history in Windows mediaplayer?

A year or so ago I figured out how to do it, it was to download a free upgrade to windows mediaplayer through microsoft, then select one of the options in that upgraded version to not display the history (recently opened documents).

However, I recently had some issues with my computer and reformatted the hard drive, and lost that upgraded mediaplayer. I need to find that upgrade again. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I have tried google, but I just come up with pages and pages of sites trying to sell programs. This is a free upgrade to mediaplayer, not a program. Also, I seem to remember that I originally learned how to do this through tech tv, but whenever I do a search on their site I don't come up with anything.

Thanks!

On Windows media player go to Tools-Options-Privacy tab. Uncheck "save file and url history in the player" and you can also clear history there.

I must still have the old version of mediaplayer (even though it came with my XP Pro software), I don't have a privacy tab under the tools-option (or anywhere else I can see).

From another thread.
http://iisoftware.net/index.php?clean.html

Also, for WMP7, you could make a batch file that did it.

Copy in notepad and save as *.bat

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList
Good luck!

I just downloaded / installed WMP9, this is what I had before and I have changed the privacy to not save the history.

Thanks again!
