If possible, I'd recommend avoiding round IDE cables. I've had problems, I know friends that have had problems, and I've read tests that show they tend to have problems. If airflow/appearance is the reason you are going with them, try to to cable orgami instead and fold yours and mount them with clips out of the way, or under the mobo (don't be severe with your folds though).

And I have round cables and have had no problems, and have seen tests that show they perform the same.

without an open case, or side window
not sure what the point in round cables really are

(difference in cooling will be unnoticable, so thats not reason enough)

The air will flow through the case better.
Your computer should run cooler.
I've used them for over a year now w/o any problem.
Most MOBO's come with round cables now.

obviously in theory its going to help airflor

but my point was that in all reviews Ive read.. they dont make a noticeable difference in temp

although, rounded ide cables arent that much more expensive either

so if you need to buy cables.. its no big deal to spend a couple extra bucks and get them

but if you already have standard flat cables.. i dont see the point of replacing them, unless you have a setup to showoff the inards of your case

I've been using rounded cables for over 3 years, and I haven't noticed any major difference in the temperature, but my PC sure looks neater with 4 HD's and 2 burners.

As twikoff said, they can actually be cheaper in some cases (haha punny).

I use them because they take up way less space and are more flexible. Makes hooking up drives easier. I couldn't care less about case temps or apperance.
