Wireless problems

I have a Dell laptop with a netgear M401 wireless card and winXP.

It runs perfectly fine on my home network (with a netgear router) but when I get to school, it will connect for about 1 minute, drop, then connect again right away. Then it will slow my computer down immensly, like the driver has locked up. If I unplug the card and keep retrying I might eventually get it to work, but rarely.

I've tried reinstalling drivers, but that's a pain since I have to go to the helpdesk and get them to put in the WEP key again and they wont look at it till a virus scan has been completed.

I have done a scan, as well as have all windows updates.

Looking at the system events, it seems this it what is causing the trouble:

QoS [Adapter {Big Hex Number}]:
The netcard driver failed the query for OID_GEN_LINK_SPEED.

So I have disabled the QoS service for my wireless card. Hopefully that will avoid the problem. As far as I know, nothing I used supported QoS anyway.
