Time for a new Harddrive, need a little help

Running Win xpPro

I bought my computer almost 5 years ago and it came with a 10G HD. I was too cheap to get the 20 and now I'm running out of space with my wife working from home and all the junk that I being computer illiterate back then aquired on it. I wanted to wipe my HD and just reload the os but 10G is too small.

The problem is that I want to buy a new 40G HD but I have a new IBM Ultrastar 18.2G 10Krpm SCSI that an IT guy gave me at work( they started using 36G and had a couple of new 18's leftover). I thought that maybe I could find someone that would be willing to trade me a regular IDE HD for it, but to no avail.

I don't want it to go to waste,so now I've decided to use it since no one wants it and I need help on what would be the most cost efficient way of being able to use it.

Can anyone tell me what I will need?

Thanks in advance

The most cost-efficient way of using the 18GB?

I'm afraid the SCSI controller that you need would cost you more than a 40GB IDE drive would cost.

Thanks for the replies and it looks like I'll be buying a new IDE HD.

Maybe I'll keep it so my future grandkids can take it to school for show-and-tell.

Go to Circuit City this week and get the 40GB Western Digital drive for $30 after $50 rebate.
