CD-ROM fails after uninstalling EZ CD Creator...what gives?

So I uninstalled Easy CD Creator the other day (from my laptop) and tried out Nero instead. It was working fine for two days before my CD-ROM disappered from Windows Explorer. I checked around and found that Windows actually loaded the drives, but was unable to find my CD-ROM. My CD-ROM is sitting in my drive bay, fully functional (opening and closing).

Has anyone came acrossed a problem like this before? I would try to figure it out if I can, but with finals in the coming weeks and three research paper to submit, it's just bad timing. Any info is greatly appreciated!

I think I've heard of this happening.

I would remove the drive through the Device Manager and reboot so the system can locate a driver for it.

cd creator often causes drive issues
X's solution is probably the only hope, or do a system restore if it's XP or ME
