DUDE, I'm getting a Dell!!! (ha ha ha)

So I just ordered a Dell Inspiron 8600

15.4" WS SXGA
1.8ghz Dothan CPU
512MB RAM 1 Dimm
128MB Radeon 9600 pro turbo
Intel Wireless b/g
extra battery for mod bay
and 3yr warranty with "accidental" damage protection

price was a little hefty, but nice nonetheless.

any reason to get uxga over sxga? although i don't need to incite buyer's remorse.

Pretty beefy laptop there. It should be ahead of the market for some time. I probably will order the Dell Inspiron 5150 in July.

You suck!!

I have that obsolete i8600 bought Aug 2003. It barely runs Homeworld 2, but probably would if it had your Dothan 1.8Ghz. The Pentium M 1.4Ghz isn't enough to deal with the 1680 x 1050 size display (WUXGA+).

The native 1680 x 1050 display means that more horsepower is needed than if a smaller display size was used. However, I've become used to the large size and can't go back. My next laptop will be a 1600 size screen as well.

If you are still within the first 30 days, consider adding the dock at the discount price if you want to have DVI video with an external LCD monitor. The dock has the DVI interface.

Since you already got it, I hate to say anything, but....

You might compare the cost of your "accidental damage" insurance from Dell vs. what your insurance agent could offer. I got a "floater policy" from my agent for like $30.00 per year (I already had the policy for other things and just added my laptop). Course mine would not cost as much to replace as your

A floater policy would cover much the same things as the Dell, dropping it, spilling something on it, etc. Check with your agent for details.

edit: awesome computer btw
