Help needed with DOS RENAME Command

Hi guys i have a folder of csv files (around 100 files) named as follows

1053 B_Spk10987ver2.csv
1053 B_Spk3883ver4.csv

etc etc

the 1053 B_Spk bit is the same for each file, only the end is different

Basically i want to rename each file so they are called

1053 Bent 10987ver2.csv
1053 Bent 3883ver4.csv

etc etc

Effectively replace the B_Spk with Bent in each file

How do i do this ?

cheers

Don't try this...at least until verified by another person, but I'd try:

rename 1053?B_Spk*.csv 1053?Bent_*.csv

The above should work, with the exception being it puts the space after bent as a "_" instead of a " ". DOS doesn't like spaces in filenames.

Yup yup.

Desmond, glad you got that figured out, but for future, you should really think about an app that will rename. They can do a whole lotta stuff besides the thing you wanted to do.

I use NameWiz. It can replace things, rename sequentially, change case, etc. etc. Plus before it does the actual renaming function, it will give you a preview of what all the names will look like. Oh, this is only shareware (Free to try,$19.95 to buy), but I'm pretty sure there are freewares that will do similar things.
