Need help closing a weird screen that keeps popping up...

A couple days ago I started to get this window that keeps popping up on my screen. The header says "Reminder" with the day, date and time listed next to it. The message itself is a standard Internet Explorer "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable" error message. This just pops up randomly a few minutes after I start up my computer regardless of whether I go online or not (although I have Roadrunner, so I am always active regardless). The problem is, I can't figure out how to close the damn thing. There is no check box to close it, and I can't right mouse click on it and close that way. How do I get rid of this bothersome thing? Btw, I am on an HP Pavilion running Windows XP if that helps any.

I ran Ad-aware, but the screen is still popping up. How do you close a window that has no check box? When I right mouse click on it I no options pop up like for other windows. Is there some other way to close it?

Sure, but you still have the box popping up, right? I had a user get hosed with pop-ads and the like after accidentally installing some freeware.

I found the following on Google:
Reduce programs and unneeded drivers that load at boot,,,,,

Many programs control their ability to load at startup
within their own Options or Preferences. RealPlayer,
MSN Messenger, WinAMP (CTRL + P and uncheck
Enable WinAMP Agent in Setup - Agent), and many
others do this. Right click on or RUN the programs in
Systray to see if they have these options. (See near end
for ways to see what is in memory.)

Still others load in :

Start - Programs - Startup

Start - Run - MSCONFIG - Start up tab

more in :
Start - Run - Sysedit
Win.ini LOAD= and RUN= lines

Start - Run - Regedit
Registry Startup Keys : (note the keys ending with " - " are ones that
are
unchecked in MSCONFIG startup tab = START - RUN - MSCONFIG.)
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesO
nce

You might have something in these :

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

still more are loaded by .VXD files.

Be VERY CAREFUL editing this list as you can stop windows from
loading at all. Make backups of any changes and learn to use RegEdit
from DOS to reload any saved registry changes that might have stopped
windows from loading.

Start - Run - Regedit
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD
He could not get to the MSConfig command, but he could and did use RegEdit to get rid of the autoloaders. (AdAware did not touch them at all.)

Good luck!
