Removing XP SP2 Build# from Desktop?

I downloaded the new 2120 build image from Microsoft's BetaPlace and did a reformat today and found that the build number is now on my desktop since this is considered an "evaluation" copy. Does anyone know how to remove it from the desktop?

Try installing Tweak UI .

Then RUN it and under General...the last item in the list is "Show Windows Version on Desktop," uncheck it.

I'm not sure if it'll work for ya...it might though.

TweakUI didn't do it; they say that "evaluation" copies will still display the message.

If you are comfortable digging around in your registry, the following fixed this issue for the last SP:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Scroll to the PaintDesktopVersion key
Right click the key, select Modify and change the value from '1' to '0'
Close regedit, logoff, log back on and it should be gone.
