Using wireless router as repeater?

Anyone have any comments on using a wireless router strictly as a network node - i.e., simply for extending the range of a wireless network? Does it work well, or have people encountered problems? My hunch is that it should be fine, but I thought I'd check before I bought a second one. Thanks in advance.

I can't do that with my Netgear. I looked into it extensively because I got 2 routers on a good deal and wanted to use them to bridge wired network segments.

You generally have to have a bridge/repeater type unit to extend from a router/access point.

I bought a WAP to expand my wireless lan range, updated the firmware, works great.

Wrt54g - router
Wap54g - WAP

Not sure on the router to router/repeater setup.
