I used to get a sound when I connected to Internet...why not anymore?

I connect thru Dial-up --- yes I'm stuck in the 90's and poor.

When I used to connect, I got a sweet sound like "do-do-de-DUP" --- I don't do it justice.

Anyway, I can't find it in "sound scheme" or even at network connections (no option for "enable sound" or something).

Am I missing it somewhere? I liked it - it made me happy.

the dialing and modem handshake sound?
if so that's in modem options and then under the modem properties where it has the volume adjustment

Not in mine unfortunately.

Can only change the modem speaker volume from Off--> Low-->Medium-->High.

The modem speaker volume is exactly what your looking for, turn it on high. If it still doesnt work your speaker on the modem may be a goner.

Depending on your OS, if it's Windows 9X, there are actually two places you need to set the speaker volume. I don't remember exactly where they are...one under modem properties and another. If you change one without changing the other, there will be no change to the volume.

Sorry guys I must have confused everyone here.

I'm looking for a sound, like a .wav file, that used to play when I connected. I hear the modem dialing/connecting fine.

Just like any other sound when your computer does things: new mail, new IM, etc. Except mine no longer plays when I connect, and I cannot find the action under Sound Schemes in control panel.

SOrry for the confusion.
