How do I change the size of the lettering while on the internet?

I don't know how, but when I logged on, the words on the screen appear much larger than usual. How do I go about changing that? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm not really computer-savvy. Thanks!

Holding control and fiddling with the scroll wheel on your mouse does it sometimes as well, as long as the cursor is over the window.
