Is this the best video driver I can get?

I installed Windows 2000 on a computer for a friend. The pc is old. It has a K-6 200mhz cpu in an NLX mobo of some kind. The video display adapter is an SiS 5597/5598(onboard). I got the Windows 2000 driver from the SiS download site and installed it. Of course, Windows told me it was already using a more current driver. In any case, with either driver if I try to set the resolution higher than 640x480 the color drops from 24 bit to 256! Is it possible that this is the best I can do with this machine? It was originally used at a Blockbuster.

It is possible that's the best you can do.

Do you know how much memory the onboard video has?

I increased the video memory in the bios from 1mb to the max, 2.5mb. Works much better now.
