Can't Download Video Codec?

When I run WinMediaPlayer 9 on XP, it tries to download a video Codec and always has an error. At first the error message implied my firewall settings were the problem. I have even temporarily turned off the firewall and still get an error.

When I click on more information, a web page with the following error displays: Error# C00D11CD. Any ideas what this is.? I did a search on microsoft and it didn't show up.

I occasionalyl get this problem. it says it found the site and the codec but then fails to get it.
the last file it did this to was able to play fine, both sound and video, so I'm not sure what it needed

I don't think windows will download any Divx/Xvid codecs manually, this is something you need to install on your own.

check out this program to see what codec you need. WMP only finds "official" codecs

What happens if it says audio and video are supported, but the sound won't play? It worked before, but then I downloaded a video joiner, and now it won't play. I uninstalled the joiner, but still no luck.
