Is it possible to make your own DVD?

I mean like say you had an old recording you made with friends, or an old wedding, or baby being born footage, whatever. Suppose the footage is long enough for a movie, say 90-100 mins.

Can you take the footage, and make it into a DVD? Not just burn it, I mean make chapters, and scenes, and extras or whatever? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I just thought it would make a great gift for a buddy of mine.

Is there any software that allows you to accomlish this sort of thing, or am I dreaming?

Absolutely. We've discussed this several times in here.

Check out Pinnacle's Studio Version 8 and Sonic's MyDVD for relatively low-cost solutions.

You'll need a video capture card as well.

Even if the movie is already on the computer, you still need a capture card?

So is the Sonic program easy to use? Step by step instructions, or whatnot?

Its fairly easy. Just start it up and you'll see some buttons for chosing the menu and for adding clips.

I am stumped on how to work Sonic MyDVD. Anyone have any tips? I have no idea how to break my movie into chapters, or add menus, or anything.
