Well, I didn't expect the discussion to come over here, but now that it has I might as well chime in. Laugh it up all you want, folks. I'll be enjoying the last laugh come May 1st.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I do hope the protobike is real (but I in no way believe that it is).

You guys have no clue how cool this drive really is.

We got a pre-realse demo drive (pd5400ga) as a sales pitch and I can tell you every claim is true

Uh, yeah.

Did you like the font size change in the specs for the Encoding Method?

And how about that latency?

It really works, you obvioulsy do not understand what happens when you compress your fonts via magnetic declanation and run them through a defibulated mascrater algorithm. Simply genious, one day all drives will be like this.

That is just a misprint.

You may want to use a spellchecker next time for a bit more credibility. A *bit*.

So, are you enjoying the last laugh?

I see now it says that Protodrive II systems will be going into production in August. Has anyone seen one of the first generation yet? They say they are sold out. Funny, I can't find a single review of one anywhere.

I noticed that the other day.

And they said they cancelled their paid ($75) demo because "Production of the ProtoDrive 5400 Series has ended". Now they're not bothering with the unlockable increasing storage concept either.

Who wants to bet that if they ever do come out with a product it will just have some compression routine firmware tacked onto a regular drive?

Oh, look what I just found!

http://www.protoscience.com/protodrive.html

So they are sticking a box between the controller and the drive that compresses the data. Too funny!

ProtoDrive II System TM

HIGHEST CAPACITY AND FASTEST HARD DRIVES IN THE WORLD

This development is the most advanced hard drive technology on Earth. You get multi-Terabyte storage capacities and data throughputs exceeding a Gigabyte per second. We do this through an advanced data encoding methodology and a special data accelerator mounted inline with the drive attachment cable.
It's a little hard to make out the picture. Maybe they'll get the idea to invent a photo-lightening process sometime in the future.

Pictured above is the ATA-133 version of the ProtoDrive II System installation kit. The drive connects to a short cable which attaches to one side of the data accelerator. The other side of the data accelerator connects to the computer's IDE controller.
Oh, this keeps getting better and better. They don't even manufacture it...
The ProtoDrive II System is actually a compilation of outsourced subsystems which are marketed by ProtoScience, Inc. All components are built by experienced manufacturers and carry a 5-year warranty.

I love my Protobike. It crashes far less than my V-22 Osprey.

I've been anxiously awaiting the results of this software simulation but they still haven't posted them.
June 23, 2004: Software simulations of the ProtoDrive II System's core functions have been performed and the results will be posted to this website in 3 working days.

The 80gig Microdrive fits nicely into the flight control console of the ProtoBike (tm). From there the data is sent to the ProtoDecoder (tm) which turns any MONO signal (thats right MONO) into a full blown 7.1 THX/DTS/DD immersive experience. Each analog signal is then fed into separate speakers in the flight helmet or can be streamed via the wireless ProtoModem (tm)!
I had a great laugh over that response. MONO signal into a full blown 7.1 ... immersive experience.
