Problem with ImageMagick (possible generic answer)

I've been having problems with ImageMagick on my new host and we can't figure out what the problem is and I'm still waiting to hear back from the maker of the script that is trying to use ImageMagick.

My host said he just reinstalled ImageMagick, but when I run this php code as suggested by the writer of the script...

PHP Code:

I get...

Code:
bool(false) -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 61880 Jan 15 22:07 /usr/bin/convert

bool(false) -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 67292 Jan 25 00:17 /usr/local/bin/convert
So it sees that convert is there, however, it says that it's not executable, as it returns bool(false) for "is_executable". Does anyone know how to fix that? It looks like it has the correct permissions with the -rwxr-xr-x, but it's just not behaving correctly.

Any ideas?
