Does anyone have Netzero Highspeed? Or just Netzero

Wanna get rid of AOL, but can't afford Cable or DSL. Does anyone have Netzero Highspeed? And if so are you happy with it?

Please let me know. Thanks.

All it does is compress JPEGs files as high as possible on their server before sending them to you. So web pages load faster, but that's about it.

I had NetZero when it was free back in 2000. Couldn't tell a difference from any other ISP. It was ok but it disconnected every 30 min. Obviously that isn't a problem now that they charge for it.

their high speed is a marketing ploy and in my opinion false advertising
actual transfer speed is still 56k

Thought it worked by using some kind of proxy server to cache everything.

Edit: Yeah, what shaun3000 said.

Netzero should work as well as any other dial up.

I don't think I'd shell out the extra $5 or whatever for the high speed though.

I understand that their highspeed thing is not as good as it sounds. I know downloading doesn't get effected one bit...but it'd still be cheaper then AOL.

My friend uses Netzero and has no problems with it. But like other said, that High Speed is a crock.
