Is Radeon 9600XT a good video card?

The Geforce 4 card on my other computer was bad the repair guy told me, cannot believe I spent that much money on this card and I only had it for only a year. I vowed I never get anything with Nvdia for now on. I'm very interested in getting the Ati Radeon card since I been hearing some great thing about them. Since I'm on a budget I can only afford the middle card, I seen the Radeon 9600XT at Best Buy for $199. Any input on anyone owning this card I greatly appreciated. Thank.

It's a DirectX 9 card and one of the best values out there right now.

As for buying it at Best Buy..

Well, I would save the money and buy it online..

Here is where I shop

Or here

I buy everything from those two sites..

But anyway, the card is a great card. Your old geforce card was not a Direct X 9 card so the 9600 would be a step up for you.

It's a good card. I just ordered a 9600XT from MicroCenter for $159, though I now see that they don't offer it anymore. Anandtech forums seem to regularly find $160 deals on this card.

yup. i'd say it's the best card out there in terms of performance/cost.

Or for $20 more, you can get a refurb 9800 Pro 128MB at newegg.com. As you know from all the reviews, 9800 Pro blows pretty much everything out of the water.
