How to get rid of My Pictures/My Music from My Documents in XP?

Hey fellow techies. I have an issue that I can't seem to resolve on my XP machine. I'm running XP pro BTW. I can't stand the My Pictures and My Music folder that are in the My Documents folder. I delete them and delete them and they come right back. It's annoying. Does anyone know how to get rid of them permanently?? There must be a way through the registry or something.

I've found how to remove them from the start menu in the registry but not from the My Documents folder permanently.

Thanks

Unless I missed it.. it's not on TweakUI.

Only option to remove them from Start Menu.

I don't know how to remove the folders from the My Documents folder, never tried, but you don't need to reg edit in order to remove them from the start menu. Just go to the start menu properties, customize, advanced and choose not to disply them.

I've never tried to delete the My Music or My Pictures folder, but I did dump the My eBooks folder and I assume it works the same way.

Right-click on the folder you want to delete and select Properties. Then unclick Read Only. After that the folder should stay gone once you've deleted it.

Thanks Mr. Salty. I'll try that when I get home. I also get the My eBooks folder from time to time.

Nope that didn't work. They come back even if you de-select Read Only before deleting. Any other ideas?

No go.. just option to move where these folders point to.
