Weird computer reboot (involving email)

For some reason my computer sometimes reboots the second I send out an email. It only started happening yesterday and has happened 3 times. After the first 2 times, I defragged my computer and it seemed to straighten it out (or maybe that was just a coincidence). It worked fine all day today, but it just happened again about an hour ago. It seems okay again now. The only thing I have done differently since yesterday was that I replaced my outdated Anti-Norton Virus software with Avast! (freeware anti-virus software). I haven't a clue if that has a connection or not, but I thought I would just throw that out there. Anyway, my CPU specs are:

Win2k
1.2 gig Athlon
256mb
Nvidia GeForce 3 vid card
Outlook Express (email browser)
