How do I re-establish my internet connection?

I spent most of last night trying to kill rogue pop up generators embedded in my system (Ad Aware got 516 of the little %^$#ers.) If they televised the execution of whoever coded these things, I would personally buy every single product that bought advertising time.

Then this thing called “incredifind” invades my system and won’t let me use my web browser. Afraid that this thing will usher in more digital imps, I clicked “work offline”.
I found and deleted it,ow I can’t get back on.
I found the work offline option in the pull down menus, but whether it’s checked or not, my system informs me that I am offline. I can’t re-establish.

I’m using WIN2000. Anyone else ever get in this bind?

What type of internet connection are you using? Broadband? Dialup?

If you're on broadband and you don't have a static IP I'd try this from the command line:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Just click "work Offline" again and it'll uncheck mark it.

I'm posting from work, hoping for advice before I go home. I'm a bad employee, but ya gotta do what it takes.

I tried that a number of times. No luck.

And you restarted your PC and it still won't reconnect you?

I think I tried that, but I'm not positive.

Thanks everyone!

Printing out and if it works or I figure something else out I will be back in tonight. (Unless I just get drunk and watch movies.)
