Computer bug keeps reseting my home page

Everytime I shut down or restart my computer, my home page gets reset to this pr0n search page. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Post in the PC forum to start. Then go and download spybot, regcleaner (google these and you'll find'em) and a firewall.

Spybot will locate and remove things like this along with tracking cookies, dialers and such.

Regcleaner will find and let you remove old/unused registry entries (where a lot of stuff can be hidden).

The firewall is self explanatory.

Yes, stop being a porn hound!

Or, you could try this site: http://www.webroot.com/wb/products/spysweeper/index.php

There is a trial version that should help you short term (ie fix your current issue), even if you don't keep it long term.

Thanks for moving this thread out of Other.

I was getting helpful advice, now it's just languishing.

If the thread isn't getting the response you want, maybe the problem is that you aren't giving any updates. You got the most basic answer in the first couple of posts, so unless you update things, many people would just assume that the problem was solved.

getting SpyKiller did not solve the problem. The bug still tries to change my home page and about once an hour I get porn pop ups out of no where. I'll try another browser. Any other suggestions?

Try SpyBot if that doesn't work you could always remove IE and reinstall it that should do the trick.

Take a look at http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html and see if your hijack sounds similar to these.

If so, try the removal tool...

If your problem is not fixed by any of the solutions offered in this thread - or the earlier ones listed - then a further note here itemising what you've tried might alert the techie types.

You should have mentioned it when this thread was in Other so it would have been noticed.

You're right it does appear to be the same. But for some reason a download from that link wouldn't work for me. Nevertheless, thank you all very much.
