What's the deal with gibberish spam?

I've been getting spam lately that appears to be nothing more than a series of random words from a list. Included in the file is an HTML attachment, but I have no intention of opening one of those. So, are the random words supposed to defeat spam blockers?

Excuse me but I just finished watching a shitload of Alias today...

Maybe the gibberish is really code that need to be deciphered. Someone could be asking for your help and you're just deleting it!
