comp will not detect cdrw nor cdrom

comp will not detect cdrw nor cdrom

help!! what can be wrong??? it wont detect any of these.

when i go into device manager. there is a "!" right next to the cdrw and cdrom. all drivers are up to date.

this is what is in the box when i dbl click the icon.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

uninstall from dev manager and reboot to reinstall
this might help too

try system restore back to when they worked
uninstall any recent software

at least on Sony computers nero and easy cd creator can cause this problem when they are installed on XP computers

Did it work?

Sometimes your mobo IDE drivers get corrupted and you have to install them over again or newer ones from the manufacturer.

IDE drivers were fine.

i had nero and ez installed... so that may have conflicted in the registry.

its fine now.
