My firewall is blocking a Java applet I need to run

I have a D-Link 614+ wireless router, and a problem.

My wife is attempting to set up webmail access to her company's computer while she is on maternity leave. There is a Java applet that is supposed to load, but it's getting blocked by my firewall, as near as I can tell. The console reports that it fails to load.

I've done some research and I see a lot of talk about "proxy server" settings. I've checked the Java console, and it is checked to use the same settings as my browser (which obviously works fine.)

I'm a little new to networking, but I've managed to figure everything out so far. This one has me stumped.

Is there some way I can allow access through the firewall for this applet?

These java applets are a pain in the ass! I don't think it's your firewall. We have had problems with java applets ever since Microsoft was made to put java software in their operating system.

I would suggest uninstaling your java runtime enviornment and your java web start. After that is done, check and see if it the applet loads. If it does not then go to the java webpage and download the newest version of the runtime enviornment.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks
