New computer.. major static problems in sound.

Well I dropped a cool K on a new system this weekend (half of that was solely the monitor, hehe).. and finally have everything connected/working.. but there is a problem.. whenever I'm playing music of any kind (mp3/ogg/spc) I get a LOT of static in the sound output when there is a lot of motion on my screen (scrolling through a webpage or moving windows or selecting files, etc)..

I tried first with a pair of junk speakers and thought it was just the junk speakers but when I took my machine home and hooked up my new creative inspire speakers they had the same problem.

I'll give a low down of what I have, it's a Gigabyte motherboard using the onboard sound, and I have a NEC flat-panel monitor (not sure if this is important, but the static is directly related to movement on the screen). Speakers are a fair distance from the screen..

Any help would be appreciated.. I'm going to guess that it may just be the onboard sound is not great.. but who knows..
