Tv Capture Card settings? help!

I am using a 1.4 ghz Athlon, WinXP, 768 ram, 120gb os 7200 rpm storage space... blah blah blah

I want to capture hour long television shows with my WinTv 2000 software, what video and audio settings should I use? I have a LOT of video codecs installed since this is a video editing machine primarily. DIVX 5.02 captures pretty well sometimes, but i can't seem to get the settings right to save to reasonable file sizes...

Any tips?

What is a reasonable file size for you?

When I save an hours worth of a TV show, the file size can be anywhere between 2.3G to 3.3G and I always use the highest quality setting.

Well- I eventually want to encode these shows in the divx format... I guess 2-4gb file size would be fine since it would only be until i can encode it to divx. So give me any tips...Thanks.

What are you guys using for capture cards? I'd prefer one with dual head.

The last capture card I bought was crappo! Was supposed to be good... was the talk of the town... was crappo.

I do my capture in what is listed as "DVD High Quality" in ATI multimedia center's settings then later use Flask to convert it to whatever bitrate MP3 audio and Divx video I want. Then I use Virtualdub to edit out the commercials. Card is AIW Radeon 9700 Pro.
