160GB Hard Drive Help?

I am going to be installing a Western Digital 160GB 7200 RPM 8 MB hard drive. I will have it hooked up with a PCI ATA Controller card. Will Windows XP be able to see the hole 160GB? I read on the links below that you need to have SP1 and a SP2 patch for Windows XP to be able to see the hole drive. But there is a proble because when I format and install from the XP CD there is no SP1 or the Sp2 patch on the cd. So how can i make a Partition if its not seeing the hole drive?

Is it your wish to use the entire hard drive as your boot partition? If so, I'd like to recommend against that action and instead recommend that you set aside a small amount for your boot partition—maybe around 10-20GB? Then use the rest as a data partition or divide it up even further if you wish.

However, if you insist on using the entire hard drive as a boot drive, I believe the easiest way you'll be able to do that before installing Windows XP would be to place it in another machine that already has Windows XP SP1 installed and will recognize the entire hard drive. Format it on that second machine and then bring it back to the first machine where you can install Windows XP on the entire hard drive.

Good luck.
