Is there some sort of program that does this?

wow, that's pretty sweet...i would hope that was done via a program, else someone really has a lot of free time on their hands

I have some kind of program that convert any graphic into this kind of ASCII format, but if I want to do that with the program, I would've have capture and convert the clip frame by frame.

this may be solely a *nix thing, but i know at least a few linux media players have ascii plugins. it was funny to watch a movie with xine in ascii, but it isn't something i'd do very often

Just found that off google. Not nearly as nice as the Matrix clip.
