Installed new cd burner drive - NERO won't make cd now HELP!

I upgraded from my 2.5 year old TDK drive to a 52 speed Buslink.
I'm trying to make a cd (wav. files) with this new cd burner and Nero v.5.0 is acting weird.

I'm doing the same thing as I did with the TDK drive:
--click on the audio cd icon
--click NEW
--Move the 16 songs over to the left column from the right
--Click on "FILE", scroll down to "WRITE CD" and left click
--Click "WRITE" in the new window
--The gray box appears that tells you to "insert and empty cd to write to"
--The gray box appears for about a seond before a new small window opens "Save Image File"
In file name it says "Image". If I click the cancel button the small NERO box appears saying "USER ABORTED". Then the Nero done screen appears stating I aborted the process.

I never saw the "save image file" box with my TDK. I always just inserted the blank cd once the command told me too and at that time the tray would pop open. Not doing it with the new drive.

The new burner is working. I've uploaded over 15 cd's the last few hours to the hard drive.

Thanks for any help on this!

Running Win98 (Second Edition) and the PC is a Compaq 7360

Are you using a version of Nero that came with your TDK drive? Those versions usually will only work with the same drive they came bundled with.

That may be the problem. The new driver came with the Nero software and I figured it wouldn't matter.

Thanks.

I'm going to uninstall the old and in with the new. I'll let you know what happens.

back, installed new software.....

I installed the new software and able to write the cd.

Just when it's about done it says: Write Error Burn Processed failed at 32k

At first the settings burnt the cd at 40X. I noticed the speed on the cd's I am using state 32X, so I tried again at 32X. FAILED for a second time.

I tried to play the cd on my cd-rom. It has all 16 songs, just won't play them....

If it worked at 40x, why not burn all your CD's at 40x?

It did not work. I tried the 40X first then the 32X second. Both gave the error message as stated above.

try a lower speed... your computer probably can't keep up at that speed. also make sure you're not doing anything in the background.

EDIT: i just looked and a compaq presario 7360 is a k6-2 500 with 64mb ram (at least the model i see specs for). if you haven't upgraded your memory... i'd do that for a few dollars :>
