If you don't mind using command line, ffmpeg or sox do the job.

I love Teracopy. It's a neat little piece of freeware for copying/moving files. It really speeds things up when moving large files or batches from one drive to another.

I use it so much I ended up buying the Pro version which only adds a few small features like Favorite Folders. But for most users, the free version is fine (I used the free one for over a year). If you decide to buy the Pro version, keep an eye out for discounts. They offer 50% Off a few times a year.

customplay is pretty cool, it plays dvds off the computer and shows different presentations and stuff. I like the search thing too because it lets you search for specific people and objects.

Secunia PSI is one of the more essential programs that everyone should have installed on their computer. It tracks if your programs are out of date and immediately alerts you if you are using an obsolete version of an app.

DAPlayer - Free HD Bluray Video Multimedia Player Software

I have freeware DAPlayer installed on my new laptop (Windows 8 x64), and I'm super pleased with it now. Though it may not have the looks or the same extent of settings/controls as the likes of paid solutions such as Cyberlink and TotalMedia Theatre 5, this program works fine and, unlike the others, is capable of outputting the video over a VGA/analogue connection (TotalMedia Theatre 5 starts to play, but then stops and I still haven't fix the problem yet. So I'd like to recommend this totally free but effective bluray player that compatible with BD+ and AACS protected Bluray, in case you guys need bluray player freeware suggestion.

I'm not one to promote wallpaper sites but I'm picky when it comes to wallpapers and that site got some really nice clean HD wallpapers. I saved a few.
Thanks, I'm picky about my wallpapers too - there are some great ones on here.

A good thing to note though: The number in parenthesis is NOT the amount of wallpapers in the category you search for - its just the number of people who added it as a favorite.

Apologies if this is a re-post.

Leawo Blu-ray player actually plays Blu-rays for free. Region free, too.

Hoopla lets you stream a bunch of things and borrow eBooks using your public library card.

Is there a free Blu-rau software that also allows you to do screencaps? Can't do it with PowerDVD.

You can do that with Leawo. Just took these pictures. The reason it looks tinted is because I was running f.lux at the time.

Re: Share with us some cool freewares (totally free only)

On Windows, ffmpeg and PowerShell, plus Task Scheduler, can be pretty powerful for automating transcoding. I backup files from my smartphone this way. There are lots of paint-by-numbers code snippets online to do most jobs.

In PowerShell, you can rename in an easily sortable date format with:
Get-ChildItem *.mp4 | Rename-Item -newname {$_.LastWriteTime.toString("yyyy-MM-dd-HH-mm-ss-ff") + ".mp4"}

Then with ffmpeg from the command prompt, you could transcode from mp4 to wmv and move it to a backup location:
for %%A IN (*.mp4) DO ffmpeg -i "%%A" -vf scale=720:-1 -q:a 2 -q:v 2 -vcodec msmpeg4 -acodec wmav2 "D:\wmv\%%A.wmv"

You could also save that ffmpeg script as a .bat file and have Task Scheduler run it on a schedule.

Also, ARGUS TV hasn't been updated very frequently, but it's worked well as a free DVR for recording and organizing MPEG-2 streams from over the air broadcasts, in combination with WebGrabPlus+ on TV Guide's listings.

For Windows I recommend FASTCOPY. Have to read about the syntax so you don't create a folder under the folder you want but works great otherwise.

guerrillamail.com is a website where you're given free, disposable emails to websites you don't trust. You can then view emails received on guerrillamail and do whatever you like with it. Also great for preventing spam from reaching your important email addresses.
