PowerDVD error: Drive is not responding.

All of a sudden I'm getting this error

"Error Code: 80900016

Drive is not responding."

The drive is fine. I can put in data cds and DVDs and browse them in windows explorer. PowerDVD is setup to default to my DVD drive. Is there any way to fix this error?

BTW, win2k and powerDVD 3.0

That got rid of the error message but didn't fix the problem.

Update:

The same error is back.
I tried to install softDVDmax but it had an error during the install process (sounded like a read error). I but in another burned CD and was able to read files off of it just fine. I'm beginning to think my computer has a DVD curse on it.
