Help Me!!! I cracked the casing on my Compaq Presario 1720US Notebook

My Compaq Presario 1720US notebook's casing on the top half which surrounds the screen has cracked. Is there anywhere where I can buy new casing for this notebook. I have tried Compaq but they say I have to buy the LCD Display too which costs like $1000. My display is fine...I just need the plastic casing. Anyone know anything?

I have one thing to say. You can't buy it anywhere. The plastic casing is like glued or something to the monitor.

They wouldn't want to place themselves outside of the the only way to replace it is to buy a new one.

I recently took apart a Dell laptop for conversion to a digital picture frame, and it's definately not easy separating the screen from the case. I'm not surprised they want to sell you the entire unit.

Your best bet now is to seal the crack with some superglue or something to make sure it doesn't spread, and be gentle with that area.
