Any negatives to a removeable HD setup?

I'm sick of my CAD software mucking up my games. I don't want to dual boot, I don't want a 2nd PC (well, I do ... but I don't want to pay for one that's good enuf) ... so I guess that means I need a physically removeable HD. I've looked at the switcher options, but they won't work if you have a master/slave on both channels.

Anyway, are there any possible negatives to doing this?

That's the unit I'm looking at ... fairly inexpensive when compared to the Lian-Li and Vantec units, and as such, probably flimsier. But the fan directly under the circuitry is unique to this model and should be quite beneficial.

The only downsides I have seen are:

1. people drop the drives and ruin them

2. people break the connector on the frame

3. the ones without fans overheat the drive (not an issue on this one) or the fail fails or the fans make a ton of noise.

I have noticed the cheaper models tend to have problems with the connectors and failed fans.

Kingston Storecase is the best

I have had issue with the Lian-Li

I use a removable hard drive in my home PC. I have drives with XP, 2000, 98 and interchange them as my C: drive to suit my needs. Works great, never had any problems at all.
