Help:Can "hot-keys" be used on a web page?

I'm researching the possibility of adding hot-keys to a web page. Is this even possible?

i once got a message that said:

'i've got a secret website. and it's so hot, i can't give you the url. just press 'p' on your keyboard to go there now'.

so i guess it's possible. unless the pr0n spam lied....
