Awesome

You have no idea how many times I've had to use this. People just keep installing all of this carp on their PC's and then wonder why they don't work. Duh!

I thought someone just posted about why not to support ad aware because they weren't going to update it anymore?

What happened was that they hadn't updated their reference files for their software since last Sept.

What people didn't realize was that the architecture of the software made it impossible for what they needed to do. So they created a whole new version (which was what just got released).

I fully support Lavasoft and am thankful for their work on Ad-Aware. Awesome stuff.

In case some of you are wondering, this has a built-in updater (you don't need a separate RefUpdate app).

I noticed that too last night. However, unlike the previous version, it does not let you select the option to have all of the found files automatically checked. Which is a pain if you find a lot. However, I believe it works if it's done via a command line parameter.

Yes it does. Right click and it gives an option to check all.

Data miners are cookies that ad tracking companies set to see which sites you're visiting. This way they can determine your spending habits (and show different ads throughout the various sites that their ads are on geared towards your spending habits)

Could someone help explain what I should and should not keep when this software finds potential issues? I ran it for the first time this morning and it found over 300 items. I quarantined all of them and got rid of them all. Are there times when you wouldn't want to get rid of them all?

Thanks,
Matt

I installed it,then ran it,quarantined a bunch(forget the number) then deleted it all,then i got these ERROR,

Ssdpsrv has caused an error in MSAFD.DLL Ssdpsrv will now close, close it only to get this???

Explorer has caused an error in MsAFD.DLL explorer will now close, close it only to get this???

MSMSGS has caused and eror in MSAFD.DLL explorer will now close, close it only to get this???

Loadgm has caused an error in MSAFD.DLL Ssdpsrv will now close, close it only to get this???

all this is done in safe modeNo way out, running scandisk gets me this....

The drivers BOOT Area contains important information that is damaged or invalid.this can cause windows to report the drivers free disk space incorrectly or...scandisk repairs the BOOT area by recording correct values...

Any ideas why this happened or what i did to cause this to happen???

iv fixed the problem by using my recovery CD but lost all my MP3`S and some other files....but on the bright side all the BS iv installed(downloaded)over the past two years is gone....

leaving my computer empty and looking and moving like it`s brand new

thanks-

tommy

I've always deleted everything that is found, except a cydoor file with Kazaa Lite. If you are running Kazaa, there is a dummy spyware file that is harmless, but essential for the program to run. You should omit that one. Other than that, I can't really think of anything.

Eudora also has a necessary piece of spyware built in if you run in the ad sponsored version. That's a keeper.
