Is there any way to clean scratches off of a flat screen anti-glare monitor?

I've got a Viewsonic 17 inch flat screen monitor. It has some kind of anti-glare stuff applied to it (came that way, I didn't put it on). There are some really distracting scratches in it. Is there anyway to get them out? I wouldn't mind a solution that totally removes the anti-glare stuff. The scratches are more distracting than a little glare would be.

Let me know if you find a solution that's not posted here, please - I've got the same problem.

Short of removing all of the anti-glare surface, you probably would have to live with the scratches.

Is the glass scratched or is it just the anti-glare surface? The anti-glare surface could be removed with a strong enough chemical cleaner. HOWEVER, you would run the risk of discoloring the glass or damaging the monitor housing.

I will look around and see if I can find any information about removing the coating on the glass.

I'm pretty sure that its just the anti-glare surface that is scratched. I looked on the viewsonic website but didn't find anything.
Their support faq only says
The screen coating is put on the monitor only at the factory. There is no way to do a touch up or do the coating again.
Thanks for the help.
